Sandra Thompson is an expert in Legal and Justice Sector Reforms and the transformation and
Modernization of Public Sector Institutions, specializing in Legal Policy, Access to Justice, Rule of Law,
Human Rights and Administrative Justice issues. She has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer with several years’ public sector experience at senior levels, in positions that bridge law and development policy and theory with practice, through engagement and advocacy with Governments, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Bilateral and Multilateral Agencies, Development Partners, Donors, Academic Institutions and Civil Society Groups.
She has led the implementation of several flagship judicial and justice sector reform activities and programmes in Ghana that have set bench marks in the West African Sub Region, and has held advisory roles on the implementation of similar projects for the Government of Sierra Leone under a DFID Funded Access to Justice and Security Programme, to the Government of Nigeria among others.
Sandra is currently Technical Advisor to the Hon Attorney General and Minister for Justice on the Legal and Justice Sector Reform Programme, where she is in charge of a team whose mandate is to support the Hon Attorney General to design and implement innovative, cross cutting programmes, activities and reforms for the restructuring and modernization of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Department and its Agencies and collaborators in Ghana. She teaches, Human Rights Law, Administrative Justice, Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADR), Legal Writing and Legal Research Methodology.
